PACLAS
Organizes “Semana Latinoamericana”
The
Philippine Academic Consortium for
Latin American Studies (PACLAS) is
organizing a Semana Latinoamericana
(Latin American Week) on March 4 to 5,
2004.
To be held at the University of
Sto. Tomas (UST), PACLAS and all
participating embassies of Latin
American countries have lined up
cultural, educational and fun events
that will be open to the public.
On
March 4, opening ceremonies will be at
10 in the morning with the opening
remarks to be given by a
representative of the Department of
Foreign Affairs.
This will be followed by
musical renditions and ceremonial
ribbon cutting for the exhibits of
PACLAS member-institutions and
participating embassies.
Closing remarks will be given
by Revered Dr. Tamerlane R. Lana, O.P.,
Rector of the UST.
In the afternoon, the festival
features select films of Latin America
to be shown at the CME Auditorium, St.
Martin de Porres Bldg. at the UST.
March
5 kicks off with the presentation of
respective countries with video clips
by the Latin America ambassadors at 9
in the morning.
In the afternoon, film showings
continue. The venue for the day’s
activities will be the Thomas Aquinas
Research Complex auditorium.
